Chitradurga, Oct 8: The government is organising several training programmes to ensure that every Sanjeevini group becomes self-reliant, said Gayatri, project director of Chitradurga district panchayat.
The four-day second phase training for the annual action plan of the model Shri Bharataambe Sanjeevini group at the village panchayat level began on Wednesday at the Babburu krishi vigyan kendra, under the aegis of the national livelihood mission, skill development, entrepreneurship and livelihood department, Chitradurga district panchayat, and Hiriyuru taluk panchayat. Resource persons from the Bengaluru and Mysuru divisions were also part of the demonstration sessions.







Speaking at the inauguration, Gayatri said, “The training under the model Sanjeevini group’s visionary plan has strengthened the group’s capacity and enabled its members to dream new possibilities for their village.” She added that the concept of the model group focuses on the entire community, making the group stronger at every stage.
Dr Parashurama, head of Babburu krishi vigyan kendra, said that initiatives aimed at bringing socially backward communities into the mainstream play a vital role in rural development. He stressed the importance of skill development and technical knowledge for self-help group members. He also explained various schemes that the krishi vigyan kendra can extend to self-help groups.
Pramod, executive officer of Hiriyuru taluk panchayat, said, “There are 20,000 women members of self-help groups in the taluk, which is a major step towards empowerment.” Shivaram and Mallikarjun Patil, state resource persons, and Saifuddin, taluk administrator, were present on the dais.
Yogeshwar, district programme manager, delivered the opening address. Divya, divisional supervisor, conducted the programme. Laxman, divisional supervisor, along with staff, office bearers, and members of the Shri Bharataambe Sanjeevini model village panchayat-level group, and other state, district, taluk-level resource persons from various districts, attended the training.
