Kalyan, Oct 6: A shocking and shameful act of hooliganism has come to light from Kalyan city, where a notorious gangster allegedly thrashed a hotel owner and forced him to fall at his feet — all over a petty dispute about being denied dal vada.
The incident took place in Kalyan East and the accused has been identified as Dinesh Lanke, a history-sheeter who was recently released on bail. His violent act has spread panic and fear among local traders and residents.

What happened
According to police reports, the incident occurred near Nitin Raj Hotel in Kalyan East late on Saturday night. A drunk Lanke arrived at a local eatery selling vada and idli and demanded that the owner, Bacharam Ramnath Gorya, prepare dal vada for him immediately.
When Gorya politely requested him to wait for some time, Lanke flew into a rage. He began abusing and assaulting the hotel owner and even threatened to pour boiling sambar over him if he didn’t comply.
As the situation escalated, the accused pulled out a weapon and further terrorized Gorya, forcing the helpless hotel owner to fold his hands and fall at Lanke’s feet. The entire episode of intimidation and assault was caught on the shop’s CCTV cameras.
Public outrage and police action
Locals said Lanke, known for his violent past, had been released from jail only a few days ago in connection with an earlier case. Residents allege he was trying to re-establish his dominance in the area by spreading fear.
The incident has sparked outrage among local businessmen and hotel operators, who have demanded immediate police intervention to end the “goonda raj” in Kalyan.
The Kolsewadi Police have registered a case against Dinesh Lanke and launched an intensive manhunt to trace him.
This shocking incident has raised serious questions about law and order in Kalyan, where the audacity of criminals seems to be testing the limits of public safety.
