Mumbai, Oct 3: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar on Friday shared a shocking real-life incident involving his 13-year-old daughter to highlight the growing menace of cybercrime targeting children.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 held at the State Police Headquarters, Akshay revealed how an unknown person attempted to exploit his daughter while she was playing an online video game.

“My daughter was playing a game where you can connect with strangers. Suddenly, she received a message asking whether she was male or female. When she replied female, the next message asked her to send nude pictures. Thankfully, she immediately switched off the game and informed my wife. This is how cybercrime begins,” Akshay said.
Stressing the urgent need for awareness, the actor appealed to the Maharashtra government to introduce a weekly ‘cyber period’ in schools from Class 7 to 10. “Cybercrime is becoming bigger than street crime. It is very important to stop this, and children must be educated about it regularly,” he added.
The event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, State DGP Rashmi Shukla, senior IPS officer Iqbal Singh Chahal, and actress Rani Mukerji among others.
