Srinagar, Sep 30: In a decisive move against terror infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday seized the immovable property of a known terror associate in Shopian district. The action was executed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) as part of an ongoing probe into terror financing networks.
The individual in question, identified as Tariq Ahmad Mir, hails from Maldeera village in Shopian. His residential property was formally attached after following due legal procedure, with official notices affixed to the premises by NIA officials in coordination with local police.

According to NIA sources, Mir was actively involved in assisting terrorists operating in the region. "Concrete evidence confirmed his role in facilitating and supporting unlawful activities, prompting the legal attachment of his property. These assets cannot be allowed to serve as safe havens or logistical hubs for terrorism," an official stated.
This move forms part of a broader campaign by the NIA to disrupt the financial and material networks that enable militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. Over the past year, the agency has attached several properties tied to alleged overground workers (OGWs) and individuals accused of aiding militant operations.
In tandem with the NIA’s efforts, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also been actively tracking and shutting down financial pipelines connected to terrorism. Meanwhile, the J&K Police and other security forces continue to intensify operations targeting militants, their local supporters, and sympathizers.
This integrated, strategic approach marks a shift in counter-terrorism policy — focusing not just on eliminating armed militants but also on dismantling the ecosystem that sustains them.
While the J&K Police lead anti-terror efforts within civilian areas, the Indian Army maintains vigilance along the 740-km Line of Control (LoC), and the Border Security Force (BSF) secures the 240-km International Border (IB).
The LoC spans districts such as Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Poonch, Rajouri, and parts of Jammu, while the IB runs through Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts — all of which remain under heightened surveillance as part of ongoing security operations.
