Mangaluru: St Aloysius University hosts national rap & beatboxing fest ‘RAPITOX’ Vol 3

Mangaluru, Sep 29: Rapitox (Vol 3), the much-awaited national-level rap and beatboxing extravaganza, was successfully organised at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) on Saturday, September 27. The event brought together young talents from across the country to celebrate rhythm, creativity, and self-expression.

The programme commenced with a soulful prayer hymn rendered by Keerthan (BCom), which set a serene tone for the day’s proceedings. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Advika, student co-ordinator, who extended greetings to the dignitaries, participants, and audience.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Fr Melwin Joseph Pinto SJ, rector of St Aloysius Institutions. Distinguished dignitaries present on the dais included Dr Charles V Furtado, director of the Admin Block, and the chief guest, Yash – popularly known as 99 Side (MTV Hustle 4 Fame), who formally inaugurated the event and addressed the gathering with his words of encouragement and inspiration.

The formal proceedings of the inaugural were compered by Jenisha, while the informal segments of the programme were hosted by Chirag during the first half and Ruben in the later sessions. Before the competitions commenced, the panel of eminent judges was introduced and felicitated with a green welcome. D’Cypher (Gaurav Gambhir) was felicitated by the rector, Fr Melwin Joseph Pinto SJ; Gubbi (Karthik Sundar) was honoured by Akshith Kumar, staff co-ordinator; and Uday Pandhi was felicitated by Dr Sandhya U Sirsikar, staff co-ordinator.

The competitive segment began with the Beatboxing Showdown (round 1), which featured ten participants. This was followed by the Rap Rumble (round 1), where fourteen contestants showcased their lyrical prowess. In the Beatboxing Battle (round 2), the qualifiers were Vivian (Insane), Joel Jazz, Naik Prajnesh Suresh (Haptic Beatbox), and Tanush Krishnan. In the Rap Rumble (round 2), the participants who advanced were Darshan Rao (Darsh 72), Mohammed Anshad (AnshWho), Gaurav Shetty (Yo5K), Arvind Chauhan, Sadhik G (SwagBlood), Siddharth B (Feral), Aviral Tiwari (Aviraaj), and Ashwin Subbaiah (Sam). The first half of the event concluded with high energy and enthusiastic performances, after which participants and guests broke for lunch.

The second half commenced with engaging fillers, creating a lively atmosphere. The Beatbox Semi-finals (round 3) saw Tanush Krishnan defeat Vivian (Insane), while Joel Jazz triumphed over Naik Prajnesh Suresh (Haptic Beatbox), paving the way to the grand finale. A vibrant performance by Crescendo added colour to the afternoon, following which the Rap Rumble Semi-finals were held. In closely contested battles, Siddharth B (Feral) defeated Aviral Tiwari (Aviraaj), while Sadhik G (SwagBlood) emerged victorious against Ashwin Subbaiah (Sam).

The Beatbox finale featured a thrilling face-off between Tanush Krishnan and Joel Jazz, keeping the audience captivated. Simultaneously, the Rap Rumble Finale showcased a power-packed battle between Sadhik G (SwagBlood) and Siddharth B (Feral), marking the climax of the day’s competitions.

The valedictory ceremony was held in the esteemed presence of the vice-chancellor, Dr Praveen Martis SJ, the registrar, Dr Alwyn D’Sa, the distinguished judges, chief guest 99 Side, along with student and staff co-ordinators. The session was compered by Jenisha.

The ceremony commenced with a welcome address by Amit Shenoy, student co-ordinator. A green welcome was extended by the vice-chancellor to Shasbin (sponsor), who subsequently addressed the gathering. A token of gratitude was presented to Shasbin by the vice-chancellor, who also shared words of encouragement and appreciation. Tokens of appreciation were also presented to the title sponsor, co-sponsor, and supporting sponsors.

Dr Alwyn D’Sa, registrar, honoured the judges, Gubbi, D’Cypher, and Uday Pandhi, as well as the chief guest, 99 Side, with tokens of gratitude for their invaluable contributions. The winners of Rapitox (Vol 3) were then officially announced by the judges.

In the Beatboxing category, Tanush Krishnan secured First Place, while Joel Jazz claimed second place. In the Rap Battle category, Sadhik G (SwagBlood) emerged as the first-place winner, with Siddharth B (Feral) as the second-place winner.

The registrar, Dr Alwyn D’Sa, expressed his sincere gratitude on behalf of the institution, acknowledging the efforts of all participants, coordinators, sponsors, and supporters. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Navya, student co-ordinator, marking the successful conclusion of the event.

Rapitox (Vol 3) stood out as a vibrant celebration of artistic expression, youthful energy, and cultural dynamism. The event not only enthralled participants and audiences but also reaffirmed St Aloysius (Deemed to be University)’s commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting cultural excellence on a national stage.
