Lucknow Municipal Corporation drives Citywide Swachchta Utsav programmes

Lucknow, Sep 24: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) organised a series of programmes across all zones on Tuesday as part of the ongoing ‘Swachchta Utsav’, aimed at promoting health, hygiene and environmental awareness among city residents.

A health camp and PPE kit distribution programme was held at the LMC premises in zone three, supported by SBI and Aastha Nav Chetna Foundation. Residents and corporation staff underwent health checkups between 10 am and 5 pm. Zonal officer Amarjeet Yadav, Triveni Nagar ward corporator Dev Sharma, sanitation and food inspector Sanchita Mishra, and tax superintendent Sabhajit Singh were present. Representatives from SBI and Aastha Nav Chetna Foundation, along with teams from BRD Metropolitan Civil Hospital and Regency Hospital, provided medical support and guidance on hygiene practices.

Meanwhile, additional municipal commissioner Arun Kumar Gupta addressed students at RS Academy Inter College in zone five, highlighting the importance of cleanliness and administering the pledge. In zone two, a cleanliness drive at DAV Degree College was led by zonal officer Shilpa Kumari, alongside an awareness programme at MD Shukla Inter College, where students and teachers actively participated. A tree plantation drive was organised in zone seven, overseen by zonal officer Akash Kumar with sanitary staff in attendance.

Further, additional municipal commissioner Namrata Singh administered the cleanliness pledge to children at Modern Academy, Viramkhand-5, accompanied by zonal officer Sanjay Yadav and sanitary officer Pankaj Shukla.

Officials emphasised that cleanliness should not be limited to campaigns but embraced as part of everyday life, urging citizens to take active responsibility for a cleaner and healthier Lucknow. Mayor Sushma Kharkwal said, “Cleanliness is not just a programme but a way of life. If every household cooperates by segregating waste and reducing plastic use, Lucknow can become a cleaner and healthier city.”
