Nashik, Sep 21: A shocking assault on journalists in Trimbakeshwar, Nashik, has sparked outrage across Maharashtra after a gang of goons beat up media personnel who were reporting near the Swami Samarth Kendra on Saturday.

According to police, the attackers were allegedly extorting money by issuing fake vehicle entry receipts when reporters began filming. Three to four journalists were injured, including Kiran Tajne, who is hospitalised with serious injuries. CCTV footage has captured the incident, and investigations are underway.

Journalist associations have condemned the attack and demanded swift arrests. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde spoke to Nashik Rural SP Balasaheb Patil and directed immediate action. “Assaulting journalists is unacceptable. The culprits will face strict action,” Shinde said.

State Minister Chhagan Bhujbal visited the injured journalists, assured them of support, and called for strong measures against the attackers. The incident has triggered widespread anger and demands for better protection of press freedom.
