Malaika Arora on judgements, confidence and living life on her own terms

Mumbai, Sep 17: Bollywood actress and fitness icon Malaika Arora opened up about the scrutiny she has faced over the years, from her career choices to her personal life, and how she has finally found freedom from the constant judgments.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Malaika reflected on the pressures of public perception. “It was tough because people love to tell you what you should or shouldn’t be. I was judged for my career, my clothes, my relationships – you name it. But the day I stopped explaining myself was the day I felt free. My biggest takeaway? The only narrative that matters is the one you write for yourself,” she said.

She candidly addressed labels that have been attached to her, saying, “I’ve been called too bold, too outspoken, too everything. And honestly? I wear it like a crown now. If I’m ‘too much’ for someone, they’re probably not enough for me.” Despite public perceptions, Malaika has charted her own path in fashion, fitness, and life choices, never following a formula.

Sharing her philosophy on self-confidence, she added, “Self-doubt is human, it never really disappears. There are days when I question myself, just like anyone else. But over the years, I’ve learned to meet those moments with kindness rather than criticism. Confidence, for me, isn’t about never doubting—it’s about moving forward with grace despite it.”

Malaika’s words serve as a message of empowerment for those navigating societal pressures, emphasizing that true confidence comes from living life on one’s own terms.
