Mangaluru, Sep 14: St Agnes College (Autonomous), organised "Aarthonam" – Onam celebration on September 13 at the open-air Stage. The programme brought together students and staff to celebrate the cultural vibrancy and traditions of Onam with great enthusiasm.
The celebration commenced with a warm welcome address by Ananya Madhu, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by principal Sr Dr Venissa AC, staff coordinators Nimitha K and Vineetha N T, PG student president Jobi John, and UG student president Ananya Madhu. The event was compered gracefully by Diya Thampi.








Principal Sr Dr Venissa AC then addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural traditions and highlighting the spirit of unity that festivals like Onam bring to the college community.
The programme showcased a variety of cultural and fun-filled events. UG and PG students presented vibrant dance performances, reflecting Kerala’s rich heritage and filling the atmosphere with festive cheer. Traditional games such as Vadam Vali (Tug of War), Uriyadi (Pot Breaking), and other Onam-themed competitions encouraged enthusiastic participation from both staff and students.
Adding to the cultural ambience, a soulful live violin performance by the renowned Adhya Vijayan captivated the audience, while the thrilling beats of S R Bhramari Chende further enlivened the festive spirit of Kerala’s traditions.
"Aarthonam" beautifully blended tradition, joy, and togetherness, creating cherished moments for all. The celebration concluded with cheer and a strong sense of unity, truly reflecting the essence of Onam and strengthening the bond of the Agnesian family.
