Yavatmal, Sep 13: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday announced a series of initiatives aimed at uplifting the tribal community, stating that the Central government has allocated Rs 1 lakh crore to bring tribals into the mainstream of development.

Speaking at an event in Yavatmal, where he inaugurated development works worth Rs 335 crore, Fadnavis emphasized that the lives of tribal citizens will undergo a “radical change” over the next three years.

He said the government is fast-tracking critical infrastructure for tribals, including housing for 54,000 families, piped water supply, healthcare facilities, electricity, hostels, and employment opportunities. These are part of a coordinated push to address long-standing gaps in basic amenities and economic opportunities for tribal communities in Maharashtra.

He highlighted the Adi Karmayogi Yojana, under which 366 villages in Yavatmal have been selected for integrated development, and 30 lakh youth across the state will be trained to develop local leadership and skills.

Fadnavis also assured that 15,000 pending compassionate appointment cases will be cleared soon, providing much-needed employment to affected families.
On the energy front, he pointed to the ongoing 35 MW solar power projects, ensuring 12 hours of electricity daily for agriculture. The government is also working on providing 10 hours of free electricity for farmers under a new plan.

Addressing the damage caused by recent natural calamities to agriculture, livestock, and homes in Yavatmal, the CM promised that compensation will be disbursed promptly.

The Rs 335 crore development package includes:

• Rs 51 crore for five hostels and related projects under the Tribal Development Department
• Rs 67 crore worth of works from the Public Works Department
• Rs 158 crore under the CM’s Solar Energy Channel Scheme, including 11 solar power projects
• Rs 59 crore allocated to other departments for various developmental works

Fadnavis reiterated that funds will not be a constraint for Yavatmal's development and that the government is committed to inclusive growth and long-term change for tribal regions.
