Mangaluru, Sep 12: The City Crime Branch (CCB) police have busted a racket involved in producing fake documents to obtain bail for accused in criminal cases.

Based on credible information, the CCB police on September 9 took into custody Abdul Rehman of Urwa police station limits for producing forged Aadhaar cards and property records as genuine documents to secure bail for accused in various cases. Upon interrogation, it was confirmed that he had used fake documents in court. A case was registered at Urwa police station (Crime No. 81/2025) under relevant sections of law.

During further investigation, Abdul Rehman revealed that he had received assistance from Nishanth Kumar, an employee at a computer centre in Kodialbail. Nishanth Kumar was also taken into custody and produced before court, which remanded him to police custody.

The investigation revealed that the accused would paste their photos onto forged Aadhaar cards and impersonate genuine sureties before court, thereby securing bail for accused in at least two cases. Two cases were registered at Mangaluru North police station in this connection.

While probing these cases, police found that Nithin Kumar of Bantwal had impersonated Ganesh K Salyan to stand surety in a case at Mangaluru South police station (Crime No. 24/2022).
