Mangaluru: Anti-Ragging Week 2025 held at Srinivas University, Mukka Campus

Mangaluru, Sep 11: The Institutional Anti-Ragging Committee (IARC) of Srinivas University organised an awareness programme titled "Report the Bullies" as part of Anti-Ragging Week 2025 on Thursday, August 18 in Room 322, Engineering Block, Mukka.

The session aimed to raise awareness on the harmful impact of ragging, its legal consequences, and to encourage a collective commitment to a safe and respectful campus. Around 60 BSc and MSc second-year students participated.

Prof Pavana Krishnamoorthy, dean of Allied Health Sciences and chairperson of the Anti-Ragging Committee, presided over the programme along with committee member Naveen Bappanadu. Other committee members were also present.

Prof Krishnamoorthy highlighted the definition of ragging, its ill effects, and punishments as per law, and guided students on how to report incidents. Ciya Sabu elaborated on dos and don’ts related to ragging and stressed the importance of mutual respect and discipline. Sarath M S explained the procedures for approaching committee members and faculty for support.

Students later filled and submitted Anti-Ragging Self-Declaration Forms as a pledge to uphold a ragging-free campus. The event reinforced Srinivas University’s zero-tolerance policy and promoted a culture of inclusion and safety.
