Illegal sand mining busted in Shirva; tipper lorries, excavator seized

Kaup, Sep 11: Acting on credible information, the Shirva police, led by PSI Manjunath Marabath, raided government land near the Papanashini stream at Garadi Mane, Shirva village in Kaup taluk, where illegal sand extraction was reportedly taking place with the help of a Hitachi excavator.

During the operation, the police seized two tipper lorries loaded with sand and one excavator from the spot.

A case has been registered at Shirva police station.

The raid was conducted under the directions of Udupi district superintendent of police Hariram Shankar, IPS, with guidance from additional SP Sudhakar S Naik, Karkala ASP Dr Harsha Priyamvada, IPS, and Kaup circle inspector Jayashree Mane.
