Clash in Vaishali: Police team attacked over ice cream dispute

Daijiworld Media Network - Patna

Patna, Sep 6: Tensions are high in the Rajapakar area of Vaishali, Bihar, following a brutal assault on a police team late Friday night. The violence reportedly started from a seemingly minor dispute over money with an ice cream vendor, which quickly spiraled out of control.

Several officers were severely injured in the attack, including Mahua police station chief Rajesh Ranjan and a Dial 112 driver, both of whom are in the ICU of a private hospital. A female constable, Taranjana Kumari, is also in critical condition. Other injured personnel include ASI Sanjeev Paswan, ASI Mithilesh Kumar, and Rajapakar station in-charge Dharmendra Kumar, among others. A local watchman, Karpuri Paswan, also suffered head injuries requiring stitches.

One of the accused, Mohammad Isha, claims the police escalated the situation, alleging they used excessive force, beat locals, and even entered homes. After the attack, he openly threatened the police, warning them against re-entering the area. Another villager was quoted making a chilling threat, stating, “If the police come here, we will slit their throats.”

Following the incident, a large police force has been deployed to the village to prevent further violence. Authorities are actively identifying and arresting those responsible. The Mahua range Circle Inspector confirmed that the situation is now under control, stating that a group from a "particular community" launched the attack and that strict action will be taken against the culprits.
