Mangaluru, Sep 6: A man who had been evading multiple court warrants for over a year has been arrested by the Ullal police.

The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammad Nawaz (34), a resident of Mastikatte, Ullal.

According to police, Nawaz had been on the run and avoiding legal proceedings related to multiple court-issued warrants. He was finally taken into custody by Ullal police.

However, following his arrest, Nawaz’s associates allegedly filmed the arrest on a mobile phone and circulated the video on social media platforms. In connection with this, false messages accompanying the video also began to spread online.

Taking the matter seriously, Mangaluru City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has directed officials to file a case against those responsible for spreading misleading information and tarnishing the image of law enforcement.

Nawaz was previously employed as a school bus driver at a private school in Babbukatte. A case had also been filed against him by his first wife in the district family court, seeking alimony.

Further investigation is underway.
