Illegal slaughterhouse raided in Beltangady, 9 cattle heads seized

Beltangady, Sep 6: Police raided an illegal slaughterhouse and seized nine cattle heads, acting on specific information received by inspector Subbapur Math about illegal cattle slaughter for meat.

The raid took at Pilichandikallu in Kuvettu village, Beltangady taluk, at the house of Mohammed Rafiq alias Appi. Police had received information that stolen cattle were being brought there and illegally slaughtered. Following this, they obtained a search warrant from higher authorities and carried out the raid.

During the operation, police seized three knives, two wooden-handled daggers, one electronic weighing machine, a wooden log, a blue tarpaulin, one live cow and a calf, an Omni van filled with cattle waste, and nine severed cattle heads. The recovery was documented in the presence of veterinarians from the Beltangady animal husbandry department.

The accused fled the spot during the raid. Police sources said that the prime accused, Mohammed Rafiq alias Appi, had been warned several times earlier but continued to engage in cattle slaughter.

The raid was carried out under the leadership of Beltangady police inspector Subbapur Math, along with sub-inspector Yallappa H Madar and staff members Srinivas, Satish, Jagadish, and driver Dharesh.
