Udupi CMC restructures standing committees; new chairpersons elected

Udupi, Sep 5: In accordance with the state government’s directive to streamline administration through the reorganisation of standing committees in local bodies, the Udupi City Municipality has constituted three new standing committees and elected their respective chairpersons.

Manjunath Manipal was unanimously elected as chairman of the Standing Committee on Taxation, Finance, and Appeals. Vijay Kodavoor was chosen to head the Standing Committee on Town Planning and Urban Development, while T G Hegde was elected as chairman of the Standing Committee on Accounts. The elections were conducted on Wednesday at the CMC office.

The meeting was presided over by Municipal president Prabhakar Poojary. Vice-president Rajani Hebbar, Standing Committee chairman Sundar J Kalmady, Municipal commissioner Mahantesh, members of the municipality, and officials were in attendance.

“This restructuring aims to improve efficiency and ensure better governance at the local level,” said a senior official present at the meeting.
