Udupi, Sep 3: A gang of masked burglars attempted to break into houses near Kukkikatte under Udupi city police station limits around 1 am on Wednesday. The incident, captured on CCTV cameras, has created panic among locals.
The three-member gang first targeted the house of Vittal Poojary at Subrahmanya Nagar near Muchhalagodu, where they ransacked the place in search of valuables but left empty-handed.
Later, when they tried to enter another nearby house, the residents switched on the lights, alerting the burglars, who fled the scene immediately.
CCTV footage from the area also shows the gang moving along the road and identifying houses. Upon receiving the information, Udupi city police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
