Mumbai, Sep 3: Actor Ahan Shetty is set to star in an untitled Indian horror film based on a real-life tragedy, marking a significant genre shift for him. The film will be penned by acclaimed writer-director Patrick Graham, known for the Netflix horror series "Ghoul" and "Betaal."

The film is being produced by Khyati Madaan’s Not Out Entertainment and Prashant Gunjalkar. According to Variety, the project is being developed as a theatrical experience that blends scares with a romantic storyline. The search for the female lead is currently underway, and the director and official title have not yet been announced.

This new role follows Shetty's 2021 debut in the romantic action thriller Tadap. He is also set to appear in the upcoming war epic, Border 2, alongside Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Varun Dhawan.

Patrick Graham's previous horror works, Ghoul (2018) and Betaal (2020), were both produced in collaboration with Blumhouse Television.

Producer Khyati Madaan, who founded Not Out Entertainment this year after a decade in the film industry, aims to revitalize Hindi-language cinema through genre-focused storytelling. The company's upcoming projects include the romantic horror-comedy Abhootpurva and a drama from National Film Award-winning director Habib Faisal.

Shetty's other major project, Border 2, is scheduled for a January 22, 2026 release. The film, directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar and J.P. Dutta, is a sequel to the 1997 classic. While the original was based on the Battle of Longewala, the sequel is speculated to focus on the 1999 Kargil War.
