Mangaluru, Sep 3: A lorry carrying wheat overturned on the highway near Surathkal on September 2, spilling its load and causing damage worth several lacs of rupees.

The mishap occurred when a car ahead of the lorry slowed down near Suraj Hotel to take a turn.

In an attempt to avoid colliding with the car, the lorry driver swerved but lost control, causing the vehicle to topple.

The wheat consignment spilled across the road, leading to considerable loss. The lorry was later cleared using a JCB to restore smooth traffic flow.

Guaranteed....Lorry was loaded above its rated capacity. Most CV on the road carry goods above rated capacity. No mechanism to check.
