Mangaluru, Sep 1: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), a prestigious Jesuit institution with a legacy of 145 years of excellence in education across science, humanities, commerce, and management, proudly announces the inauguration of CHEMERGENCE –Ignite Chemical Curiosity, a pre-university fest dedicated to exploring the fascinating world of chemistry. The event aims to celebrate the wonders of the subject while emphasizing the significance of basic sciences in driving modern innovations.
The fest will be inaugurated on Wednesday, September 03, at 9:00 am in the Fr L F Rasquinha Auditorium, Loyola Centre for Research and Innovation (LCRI), St Aloysius (Deemed to be University). The inaugural ceremony will be graced by Karthick R, chief manager (Innovation), Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) as chief guest, and Guruprasad M, deputy manager, EHS, BASF as guest of honour.

This highly anticipated fest aims to provide a stimulating experience for around 600 students from 35 pre-university colleges all coming together to celebrate their enthusiasm for chemistry and discover the diverse career opportunities the field presents.
The fest will feature an array of chemistry-inspired activities and competitions, designed to test creativity, presentation skills, and scientific understanding. Events include innovative experiments, scientific presentations, and quizzes that not only challenge students intellectually but also demonstrate real-world applications of chemistry. These engaging sessions aim to nurture scientific thinking, foster teamwork, and inspire the next generation of chemists.
The celebration will conclude with the valedictory ceremony at 3:30 pm, honored by Pramod, inspector, Surathkal Police Station and alumnus of BSc (1994–97 batch) as chief guest, along with Vani Kumari, vice president, Dakshina Kannada District PU College Chemistry Lecturers’ Forum as guest of honour. This closing event will recognize the achievements of participants while reflecting on the insights and experiences gained throughout the fest.
