A bright student throughout, Revu pursued BTech in Electrical Engineering from Kakatiya University, Hyderabad, and later completed his post-graduation in engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. After briefly serving as a railway engineer and later being selected for the IPS, Revu persevered and achieved his dream of becoming an IAS officer on his third attempt, at the age of 27.
Since then, he has held several significant roles, including collector of Nellore and West Godavari, and secretary to the chief minister.
