Udupi, Aug 29: A fishing boat capsized due to rough sea conditions near Thottam beach in Malpe on Thursday, August 29. Four fishermen who had ventured into the sea narrowly escaped with their lives.

Thottam ward municipal member Yogesh immediately alerted professional social worker Ishwar Malpe and his team. Acting swiftly, Ishwar, along with locals Praveen and Uday, rushed to the spot with life jackets and successfully rescued all four fishermen.

Speaking about the incident, social worker Ishwar Malpe cautioned that the sea at Malpe remains extremely unpredictable and turbulent. “No one should venture into the water, even if they know how to swim. Waves can rise suddenly without warning. Fishermen must always wear life jackets while going out to sea,” he emphasized.
