Mangaluru, Aug 19: St Aloysius PU College in collaboration with AJ Institute of Medical Sciences and the SAPUC Parent Teacher Association organized a blood donation drive at Loyola Hall. The drive received an enthusiastic response from students, faculty, parents and members of the Aloysian community.
The event commenced in the presence of college staff, St Aloysius Pre-University Model United Nations (SAPMUN) organizing committee members and representatives from AJ Institute of Medical Sciences. The initiative was designed not only to collect blood for patients in need but also to raise awareness among youth about the life-saving importance of voluntary blood donation.

Medical professionals from AJ Institute of Medical Sciences ensured the process was safe and efficient. Donors underwent health screenings, including hemoglobin and blood pressure checks, to confirm eligibility. Post-donation care and refreshments were provided, ensuring a smooth and reassuring experience for all participants.
Many first-time donors shared how meaningful and empowering the experience was, as it gave them an opportunity to contribute tangibly to society. The initiative embodied the ethos of the SAPMUN outreach programme, extending the principles of leadership, empathy and service beyond Model United Nations debates and into real-world action. It highlighted how diplomacy and dialogue, core to MUN values, align seamlessly with acts of humanitarian service. This initiative stands as a powerful reminder that true leadership finds its roots in social service.
The SAPMUN team and volunteers played a pivotal role in the event’s success by managing registrations, assisting donors through the process and coordinating with medical professionals to ensure efficiency at every stage. The blood donation drive not only met its objective of collecting blood but also reinforced the spirit of compassion and social responsibility among participants.
