Mangaluru, Aug 17: The campus of Ladyhill English Medium Higher Primary School, ICSE, came alive with the hues of patriotism and unity as it celebrated the 79th Independence Day in a grand and spectacular manner.
The masters of ceremony – Saptica Coelho, Melanie D’Souza, Gagan Poojary, Lemuel Adam Miranda, Saanidhya H Udupa, and Melisha Shane Sequeira of grade 7 – attired smartly in the uniforms of the Navy, Army, and Air Force, extended a majestic welcome to the gathering, their voices blending with the resonant beats of the school band.

The chief guest, Paresh Narendra, businessman and vice president of the Parent-Teacher Association, unfurled the National Flag with pride and reverence. He was accompanied by the joint secretary of Ladyhill Institutions, Sr Maria Kripa AC, principal Sr Jenifer Moras AC, and vice principal Lavita Correa. As the National Anthem echoed across the campus, every heart swelled with emotion and gratitude for the nation.
The celebration then transitioned into the school hall, where the programme commenced with a soul-stirring prayer service, a graceful welcome dance, and a heartfelt welcome speech delivered by Aaradhya Amin and Aileen D’Souza. Students creatively presented the significance of the Tricolour, followed by the vibrant Tiranga dance, which brought alive the spirit of freedom. They further showcased India’s remarkable progress in various fields, portraying the strength and resilience of the nation.
A special highlight of the day was the “Women Soldier Dance” – a powerful performance that celebrated the courage, determination, and indomitable spirit of Indian women in the armed forces, leaving the audience deeply inspired. The programme also included the felicitation of sports achievers, applauding their dedication and success.
In his address, the chief guest urged the students to nurture the spirit of patriotism in their daily lives and contribute selflessly to the nation with pride and responsibility.
The celebration drew to a close with a vote of thanks by Prapti Maji, marking the end of a day filled with patriotism, pride, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
