Mumbai, Aug 17: The much-awaited Dharmaveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Road, popularly known as the Mumbai Coastal Road, has been opened round-the-clock for all types of four-wheelers and buses, a civic official confirmed on Saturday.
According to the order issued on Friday, all bridges, tunnels and underpasses on both north and south-bound lanes have now been thrown open to vehicular traffic. The decision came after authorities declared the completion of all pending works on the stretch.
With the road fully operational, the north-bound connector from Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Road to the Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link has been closed, as it is no longer required, officials said.
The opening marks a major milestone in Mumbai’s infrastructure push, promising smoother and faster connectivity across the city’s western coastline.
