Karkala, Aug 15: The Christ King Educational Institutions here celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm. Dr Naveen Amanna, a former officer of the Indian Air Force, was the chief guest. After hoisting the national flag, he said, “Independence is not merely freedom from chains; it is a symbol of responsibility. Each of us must become soldiers who lead the nation on the path of progress.”
Shehnumn Fatima from class 10 and Brovin Agera from the first-year science stream shared their thoughts on Independence Day. Primary school students sang patriotic songs. Present on the occasion were Lakshmi Narayana Kamath, principal of the pre-university section; Dr Prakash Bhat, vice-principal; Josna Snehalatha, headmistress of the high school section; Rudolph Kishore Lobo, headmaster of the primary school section; and Kiran Crasta, administrator.


Swathi Shetty, high school teacher, welcomed the gathering, while Shiji C K, English lecturer of the pre-university section, proposed the vote of thanks. Jeslyn D’Souza, primary school teacher, compered the programme.
