Mumbai, Aug 13: Animal welfare groups and pet lovers in Mumbai are uniting to demand justice and better care for the city’s street dogs through two back-to-back events this week.
On August 14, a rally titled “Save Our Indies” will be held at Carter Road from 11 am, urging citizens to “be the voice for the voiceless” and stand up for the rights of stray animals.
On August 15, a silent march will be organised at Azad Maidan Fort from 12 noon, with participants requested to wear black as a mark of solidarity.
Organisers said the initiatives aim to shed light on the neglect and abuse faced by street dogs, while calling for compassion, stronger protections, and effective welfare measures. A large turnout of animal lovers, activists, and citizens is expected over the two days.
