Nagpur, Aug 11: A harrowing incident unfolded on Raksha Bandhan when a 35-year-old man, Amit Yadav, tied his wife’s lifeless body to his bike after she was fatally run over by a speeding truck on the Nagpur-Jabalpur National Highway. A distressing video showing Amit carrying his wife Gyarsi’s body went viral on social media, capturing his desperate attempt to seek help as passersby ignored him.

The tragic accident occurred near Morphata as the couple travelled from Nagpur’s Lonara to Madhya Pradesh’s Karanpur on August 9. The speeding truck hit Gyarsi and then fled the scene after running over her. Despite Amit’s pleas, no one stopped to assist him.

With no other option, Amit tied his wife’s body to the bike and continued towards their village in Madhya Pradesh. Police intercepted him shortly after and took the body for post-mortem at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Nagpur. A case of accidental death has been registered, with further investigation pending the autopsy report.

The couple resided in Lonara, Nagpur but hailed from Seoni district in Madhya Pradesh. Authorities continue to probe the incident.
