Udupi, Aug 9: Udupi Catholic Credit Co-operative Society Limited, Udupi observes international year of cooperatives 2025, themed 'Cooperatives build a better world', a tree-planting programme titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (One tree in the name of mother) was organised at Government Higher Primary School, Udyavara, on August 9.

The initiative aimed to promote the pledge of creating a green environment, was jointly organized by Karnataka State Cooperative Federation Limited Bengaluru, Udupi District Cooperative Union Limited Udupi, Udupi Catholic Credit Co-operative Society Limited Udupi and the department of Cooperation Udupi District.

Louis Lobo, president of Udupi Catholic Credit Co-operative Society Ltd, presided over the event and delivered the presidential address. Anusha Kotyan, chief executive officer of Udupi District Cooperative Union, gave the introductory remarks.

Chief guest Harish Kini, director of the Cooperative Union, shared his views, while School management committee president Harishchandra delivered his message.

On this occasion, Udupi Catholic Credit Co-operative Society Limited presented a steel almirah to the school library as a gift.

Sandeep Fernandes, chief executive officer of Udupi Catholic Credit Co-operative Society Limited, extended the welcome. Director Frank P Cardoza proposed the vote of thanks. The event was compered by headmaster Gururprasad.

The occasion saw the presence of the Society’s directors, Udyavara branch manager Sunil D’Souza and staff, teaching faculty and students of the school, and staff of the Cooperative Union.
