Mangauru, Aug 9: To in still values of peace, harmony, and mutual respect, St Theresa’s School observed Peace and Harmony Week from August 4 to 9. A variety of engaging and meaningful activities were organized across different grade levels to help students understand and reflect on the importance of peace in their lives and communities.

Peace Week began on a serene note with a guided meditation session conducted for all the students. The exercise aimed to help students cultivate mindfulness, emotional balance, and inner calm — essential components of a peaceful mindset.

Young learners from classes I to V showcased their understanding of peace by illustrating universal symbols of peace. The activity promoted visual learning and symbolic thinking. The peace quiz tested students’ knowledge of global peace efforts, leaders, and movements.

Students of classes VI to X expressed their thoughts creatively through powerful slogans on the theme of peace. The activity encouraged critical thinking and advocacy for peaceful coexistence.

Students also delivered powerful speeches impersonating iconic peace advocates such as Mother Teresa, Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, Sarojini Naidu and Martin Luther King Jr Their passionate delivery and research reflected deep admiration for these figures and their peaceful philosophies.

Peace Week concluded with a heart-touching skit performed in Kannada titled ‘Shanthidootha’, emphasizing communal harmony and conflict resolution. The local-language presentation ensured broader engagement and cultural relevance. Principal Sr Lourdes stressed on the importance of inner peace and harmony in the family.

The activities provided students with diverse platforms to understand, express, and promote the values of peace in thoughtful and creative ways. Through meditation, art, literature, and performance, students were inspired to become ambassadors of peace both within the school and in the world beyond.
