Kasargod, Jul 20: Landslide threats in areas under Vorkady gram panchayat, particularly in Kaje and Vorkady, have prompted the temporary relocation of several families to safer locations.

Sinkholes up to 10 metres deep have formed, and cracks have appeared on the ground in several spots. Soil erosion has caused trees to collapse in elevated areas.

A hillock collapsed in Urmi Thuppe of Kodlamogaru, destroying several agricultural plantations. In Paisari near Perla Adkasthala, a section of land caved in, damaging the side of a house. In Enmakaje panchayat, a hillock has slid beside a house. A well has collapsed in Malangara.

Authorities are monitoring the situation and taking precautionary measures.
