Gurugram, Jul 20: A playful moment turned tragic when a 22-year-old woman from Odisha fell to her death from the fourth floor of a building in Gurugram’s DLF Phase 3. The incident occurred last Tuesday as the young couple, who had been married for two years, spent a quiet evening together.

Boringi Parwahti, a call centre employee originally from Ganjam district, had climbed onto the terrace ledge and jokingly asked her husband, D Duryodhan Rao, if he would catch her if she fell. Within moments, she lost balance. Despite Rao’s desperate efforts to hold her hand and call for help, she slipped and landed on a wet patch of ground behind the building.

“I held her hands for nearly two minutes. I shouted for help, but there was no one around. She slipped through my hands,” said a heartbroken Rao, who works as a content moderator at a private firm. “We were living a happy married life. We were planning to start a family. All our dreams are shattered now. Maybe this is what God wanted.”

Parwahti was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to internal injuries within half an hour.

Police have ruled out foul play. Inspector Yogesh Kumar, SHO of DLF Phase 3 police station, stated that bruises on Rao’s arms and chest suggest a genuine attempt to save his wife. “Her family did not file any complaint. The body was handed over after post-mortem,” he added.

The tragedy has left the grieving husband inconsolable, sitting alone in their modest two-room flat, clinging to memories of a life that ended too soon.
