Yenepoya University conducts workshop on Disaster Ethics & Research

Mangaluru, Jul 18: A workshop on Disaster Ethics and Research in Disaster Settings, supported by NIH (Grant no. 1R25TW010305), NCE was organised by the Centre for Ethics, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru on July 1 and 2.

The vice chancellor, Dr M Vijayakumar graced the inaugural event. The session was opened by the introduction of disaster ethics by Dr Donal O’ Mathuna, professor, College of Nursing, Ohio State University followed by sessions from Dr Amar Jesani (independent consultant, researcher and teacher of bioethics and public health & visiting Professor, Centre for Ethics), Dr Vibhuti Patel (Retd Prof, Advanced Centre for Women’s Studies, TISS & visiting Prof, Centre for Ethics) , Dr Geeta Balakrishnan (former principal, College of Social Work, Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai) and Dr Vina Vaswani (director, Centre for Ethics).





The programme was successfully conducted in hybrid mode. As many as 24 participants from within the University and outside, from various disciplines benefited from this programme. The participants expressed their thoughts freely and clarified the doubts.

The session was quite interactive well appreciated by all. The programme was wrapped up with a vote of thanks and distribution of appreciation certificate to the resource person and delegates with a group photograph.
