Gadkari advocates legal action against govt to ensure accountability

Nagpur, Jul 14: Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has called for more citizens to take the legal route against the government to uphold discipline and accountability in public administration.

Speaking at the Late Prakash Deshpande Smriti Kushal Sangathak Puraskar ceremony in Nagpur, the senior BJP leader said, “There should be some people in society who file petitions against the government in the court. This disciplines the politicians. Even ministers in the government cannot do the work that a court order can do.”

Gadkari, known for transforming India's road infrastructure, highlighted that popular politics often hinders politicians and ministers from taking firm decisions.

He praised the awardees, referred to as ‘Kushal Sangathaks’, for their efforts in filing legal cases that challenged questionable government decisions, particularly in the education sector. “They have compelled the government to reverse many of its decisions through the legal route,” he added.
