Vasco, Jul 14: A 40-year-old motorcyclist from Zuarinagar, who was undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, has passed away days after sustaining critical head injuries in a self-accident at Dabolim.
The deceased has been identified as Nannemiya Suranagi. According to police, the accident occurred on July 4 when Suranagi lost control of his motorcycle, skidded, and fell on the road, resulting in severe head trauma. He was immediately rushed to GMC for treatment.
Vasco police had registered a motor vehicle accident case on July 5. Later, a wireless message from GMC's casualty department informed the police that Suranagi had succumbed to his injuries.
The post-mortem, conducted by the police surgeon at GMC, confirmed the cause of death as “bilateral consolidation of lungs in a person undergoing treatment for craniocerebral damage caused by blunt force impact by surface and/or object.”
Following completion of legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family for final rites. Vasco police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.
The case is being investigated by PSI Archana Gaonkar under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and guidance of DySP Gurudas Kadam.
