Udupi: Dr TMA Pai Hospital to conduct laparoscopic surgery camp from Jul 14

Media Release

Udupi, Jul 11: Dr TMA Pai Hospital, Udupi, will be conducting a laparoscopic surgery camp from July 14 to 24, between 9 am and 4:30 pm. This initiative is supported by two departments (obstetrics & gynaecology; and surgical gastroenterology & general surgery) and helps people who have symptoms that may require laparoscopic surgical treatment.

Laparoscopic surgery has many advantages as compared to conventional open surgery. It uses smaller incisions, which result in less pain, smaller scar, faster recovery and a shorter hospital stay. The goal of this programme is to make these advanced procedures more available and affordable to the community.

Patients with common gynaecological problems such as heavy or irregular menstrual bleeding, lower abdomen or pelvic pain, fibroids, ovarian cysts, or infertility-related concerns will benefit from laparoscopic procedures. Laparoscopic sterilisation procedures for permanent contraception in women will also be available. It is also useful for patients with surgical problems such as hernias, gall bladder stones, appendicitis and certain intestinal disorders. A hernia usually appears as a bulge in the groin or abdomen, which may increase while standing, lifting weights or coughing.

As part of this programme, patients will receive free specialist consultations during the camp days. Further, they will receive 20% discount on outpatient investigations and laparoscopic surgeries, valid until August 31.

People who have been experiencing any of the symptoms mentioned above, or who have been advised surgery but are considering a second opinion, are encouraged to make use of this opportunity.
