Puttur, July 8: A disturbing incident of sexual harassment involving a minor girl was reported near Nehru Nagar Junction in Puttur on Tuesday, July 8 morning. According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, an unidentified man approached the girl while she was waiting for a bus with her mother and allegedly molested her before fleeing the scene.

The Dakshina Kannada District Women’s Police Station has registered a case (Crime No. 53/2025) under multiple sections, including BNS 2023: Sections 126(2) (assault with intent to outrage modesty), 74 (sexual harassment), 115(2) (criminal intimidation), and 353(2) (use of criminal force) and POCSO Act, 2012: Section 8 (sexual assault on a minor)

The accused has since been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway. Authorities have assured strict legal action against the perpetrator.

The police have urged the public to cooperate with the investigation and report any additional information related to the case.
