Hit-&-run victim succumbs after 3 weeks in hospital

Ponda, Jul 7: Prashant Shet Verenkar, a two-wheeler rider who was grievously injured in a hit-and-run accident near Safa Masjid three weeks ago, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night at the Goa Medical College Hospital, Bambolim.

As per sources, the incident occurred on June 14, when Prashant was heading towards Upper Bazaar on his motorcycle. An unidentified car, reportedly travelling towards Usgaon, rammed into his bike and fled the scene.

Since the accident, Prashant had been under treatment at the GMC. Despite continuous medical care, he breathed his last late Saturday night.

Ponda police have launched a manhunt to trace the unknown vehicle responsible for the fatal crash and are appealing to the public for any leads.
