Mungeli, Jul 3: In a proud moment for Chhattisgarh, Mungeli District Hospital has been awarded the prestigious National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification by the National Health Mission under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, after scoring an impressive 92.33% across 15 key health service parameters.
Mungeli District Magistrate Kundan Kumar called the achievement a milestone for the district and lauded the dedication of the hospital staff. “This is not just a moment of pride but a step forward in strengthening health services. Congratulations to all health workers and officials,” he said.

Civil Surgeon Dr M K Roy stated that the hospital had been preparing for the assessment over the past six months. “A central team from Delhi came for grading. It was a collective effort. We will continue to strive for excellence in service,” he added.
RMO Dr Sandeep Kumar Patil explained that NQAS is a national initiative that ensures and rewards high-quality services in public hospitals. He noted that Mungeli Hospital stood out in areas like infection control, patient care, clinical services, cleanliness, record management, and trained personnel.
He added that under the NQAS certification, the hospital will now receive an annual incentive of Rs 10,000 per bed for the next three years, based on its 240-bed capacity.
Hospital Manager Surabhi Kesharwani, Matron Divya Masih, and the rest of the team were instrumental in achieving this milestone. Masih shared that 8–10 childbirths take place daily at the hospital with careful monitoring and quality care. The hospital also ensures proper hygiene and is helping common citizens through Ayushman card services.
Patient relatives also praised the services. Himesh Kumar Khandekar, whose father is undergoing treatment for a urinary infection, said he was satisfied with the care and cleanliness. “Treatment is regular and the facilities are well-maintained,” he noted.
With this recognition, Mungeli District Hospital now stands among India’s top government healthcare institutions delivering quality and patient-centric services.
