Panaji, Jun 28: The body of 45-year-old Rajendra Sangar, a Zilla Parishad employee from Kolhapur, was recovered today from a 150-foot-deep gorge at Amboli’s Kavlesad Point, a day after he went missing during a trip with friends.

Sangar reportedly slipped and fell while attempting to retrieve a handkerchief that had fallen beyond a safety railing around 4:30 pm on Thursday. The incident occurred at the scenic but risky Kavlesad Point.

Rescue efforts were hampered by poor visibility and limited mobile connectivity in the area. However, a combined operation involving the NDRF, Sawantwadi police, local rescue teams, and villagers successfully located and recovered his body by noon on Friday.

The body has been moved to the Amboli Primary Health Centre for a post-mortem examination.
