Vellore, Jun 23: In preparation for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin’s visit to Vellore, the district administration has declared the region a strict “no-fly zone” on June 25 and 26, banning all non-conventional aerial activities including drones.

In an official release, Vellore District collector V R Subbulaxmi announced that unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and similar devices will not be allowed during the Chief Minister's two-day visit, during which he is set to inaugurate the refurbished British-era Pentland Multi-Speciality Hospital and distribute welfare assistance to beneficiaries.

“Any unauthorised aerial activity will lead to immediate seizure or destruction of the device by the police,” the collector stated, warning that violators will face strict action under relevant IPC sections.

Officials emphasised that drone operations whether by private individuals, commercial operators, or even government agencies require prior clearance as per guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The move is part of heightened security arrangements, with the CM’s engagements expected to draw significant crowds and require intense administrative coordination. Residents have been urged to fully cooperate and refrain from flying any aerial devices to ensure the safety of dignitaries and the public.
