Mumbai, Jun 19: Bollywood’s perfectionist Aamir Khan is all set to make a heartfelt return to the big screen with Sitaare Zameen Par, marking his comeback after the underwhelming Laal Singh Chaddha. Helmed by Shubh Mangal Saavdhan fame R.S. Prasanna, the film also heralds the return of Genelia D’Souza to mainstream Hindi cinema, adding to the emotional fabric of this family drama.
As the film gears up for its theatrical release, early trends in advance bookings have ignited cautious optimism in trade circles. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has managed to rake in a total of nearly Rs 4 crore in advance bookings by Thursday morning. The Hindi version alone accounted for Rs 99.4 lakh, with over 32,000 tickets sold across 6,470 shows nationwide.
The average ticket pricing in Hindi-speaking regions stands at Rs 243, indicating a premium pricing strategy targeted at urban family audiences. Beyond the Hindi belt, the film has made modest yet noteworthy inroads in the southern market—earning Rs 8.14 lakh in Telugu and Rs 1.27 lakh in Tamil, reaffirming Aamir Khan’s pan-India pull.
For Khan, Sitaare Zameen Par is more than just a film—it is a crucial litmus test following his previous film’s lackluster box office run. While the advance figures may not mirror the actor’s earlier blockbusters, they signal a strong emotional connect with the film’s core theme of acceptance, family, and inner resilience.
With Genelia’s comeback, a touching storyline, and the trusted directorial hand of Prasanna, the film is expected to gather momentum over the weekend. Word-of-mouth is likely to play a key role in driving footfall in the days to come.
Interestingly, the film is set to clash at the box office with Kuberaa, starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna—setting up a compelling showdown at the theatres.
