Panaji, Jun 16: With relentless rains lashing Goa, the State government has constituted two district-level committees to oversee safety, security, and monsoon preparedness in mining areas for the year 2025-26.
According to an official order, the North and South District Committees will be led by the Director of Mines and Geology, with respective Deputy Directors and Superintendents of Police as key members.

The North Goa committee includes Mamlatdars from Bicholim, Sattari, and Bardez talukas, along with assistant engineers from the Water Resources Department (WRD), Range forest officers, and an Assistant Environment Engineer from the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB).
In South Goa, Mamlatdars of Sanguem, Dharbandora, and Quepem talukas form part of the panel, supported by WRD engineers and forest officials.
“The committees are tasked with regular inspections of mining areas to ensure all safety and environmental protocols are strictly followed during the monsoon,” the order stated.
