Bengaluru/Patna, June 7:  In a major breakthrough in the gruesome suitcase murder case, Bengaluru police have arrested seven men from Bihar for allegedly murdering a minor girl and dumping her body in a suitcase near the Chandapura railway bridge.

All the arrested individuals are residents of Nawada district in Bihar. Officers from the Suryanagar police station under the Bengaluru Rural division are currently escorting the accused to Karnataka for further investigation.

Among the seven, three have been identified as Ashik Kumar, Mukesh, and Rajaram Mohan. According to police sources, Ashik Kumar is married and has two children.

Though the case technically falls under the jurisdiction of the Railway police, local police joined the investigation as the suitcase was found within their station limits. “This case could fall under our jurisdiction, so we became involved. The suitcase contained only the body—no ID cards or personal items were found,” police officials confirmed.

The body of the teenage girl was discovered on May 21 near Chandapura railway bridge. She was later identified as Reema, aged 17. Initial investigation suggests that she was killed at a different location and her body transported and dumped near the railway bridge to mislead investigators. The exact motive behind the killing is still under investigation.

The shocking murder had triggered public outrage, with police under pressure to track down the perpetrators. Authorities say more details will emerge as interrogation of the suspects continues.
