Bengaluru, June 6: In a major development following the deadly stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) IPL victory celebration, a Bengaluru court on Friday remanded four individuals — including RCB’s marketing manager Nikhil Sosale — to 14 days of judicial custody.

The arrests were made after a joint operation by Bengaluru City police and the Crime Branch earlier in the day. Apart from Sosale, those detained include Sumanth, DNA Manager Kiran, and staff member Sunil Mathew. All four have been accused of serious lapses in crowd management that led to the fatal incident.

The accused were produced before the 41st Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court in Bengaluru on Friday evening. After hearing preliminary arguments, the court ordered that all four be remanded to judicial custody until June 19.

Notably, Nikhil Sosale was arrested at Bengaluru International Airport while allegedly attempting to leave for Dubai. He subsequently filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court challenging the legality of his arrest.

However, Justice S R Krishna Kumar, who heard the petition, declined to grant interim relief and adjourned further hearing to June 9.

The stampede, which occurred on Wednesday evening outside the stadium amid RCB's first-ever IPL trophy celebrations, resulted in the tragic deaths of 11 individuals. What began as a jubilant public gathering turned into chaos due to alleged mismanagement, triggering widespread criticism and swift legal action.

The case continues to draw intense public and media attention, as questions mount over accountability and event safety.
