Udupi, Jun 5: A one-year-old child tragically died after reportedly getting entangled in a cradle saree in Nittoor, Udupi, on June 4.

The complainant, Ayyappa (27), a native of Puttur village in Udupi district, has been working in Udupi for the past three years and resides in a rented house owned by Gangadhar in Nittoor. On the morning of June 4, Ayyappa left for work after placing his wife and their one-year-old daughter, Kaalamma, to rest in a traditional cloth cradle (joli).

When he returned home later, he found the child in a critical condition, with the saree used to secure the cradle wrapped around her neck. He immediately rushed her to a private hospital in Udupi, where doctors declared her dead.

Initial reports suggest that the child may have suffocated after accidentally falling from the cradle or shifting in her sleep, causing the saree to tighten around her neck.

The Udupi town police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

There must be a basic one hour education with these small things to all parents before or after pregnancy, in Europe or US or advanced countries these information or education is compulsory for all parents from the hospital. These are important things which can save lives.
