Mangaluru, June 2: The law and order situation in Dakshina Kannada district and Mangaluru City Commissionerate limits has been affected in light of recent murders, said superintendent of police Dr Arun Kumar.
An analysis of murder cases over the past 5–10 years has revealed that some of the accused have links to communal organisations. “We have identified and are closely monitoring the movements and activities of the leaders of such organisations. Directions have been issued to verify all such groups, and preventive measures will continue,” the SP said.

A protest was held at the Kadaba police station opposing the ongoing background verification of key members from various organisations. The SP clarified that these verifications are part of the efforts to maintain peace and stability across the district.
“It is the responsibility of the police to take preventive action, and legal steps will be taken against those who oppose these efforts. We will continue to implement such measures until law and order is fully restored,” he said. He further added that individuals who took part in the unlawful protest—and those whose family members come forward to represent them—will also face legal action, if necessary.
