Bengaluru, June 1: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has constituted a fact-finding team comprising seven party leaders and office-bearers to investigate the authenticity and truth behind the recent disturbing incidents reported in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada.

The committee has been formed by KPCC president D K Shivakumar and includes KPCC general secretary Syed Naseer Hussain, working president and MSC Manjunath Bhandary, BDA chairman N A Haris, AICC secretary Rojie John, KPCC vice president V R Sudarshan, former minister Kimmane Ratnakar, and former MP Jayaprakash Hegde.

In recent times, incidents reported from the coastal region have been widely covered in the media under alarming terms such as murder, extortion, killings, and communal violence. In order to verify the accuracy and credibility of these incidents, the KPCC has dispatched this fact-finding team.

The team members will visit the affected areas in the coastal districts, hold discussions with the families of victims, people from all communities, representatives of various organisations and institutions, and other stakeholders. Based on a thorough investigation, they are expected to submit a detailed report to the KPCC within a week.

Key objectives of the committee:

  • Investigate the recent spate of murders in Dakshina Kannada
  • Examine the communal tension reportedly triggered by these killings
  • Assess how the incidents are being portrayed in the media
  • Verify the authenticity and ground realities of the reported cases
  • Conduct direct interactions with the public in the affected areas
  • Submit a comprehensive report to the KPCC within a week

The committee aims to bring clarity and an unbiased understanding of the ongoing issues in the coastal belt.
