Bantwal, May 30: A labourer lost his life after a rice-laden lorry overturned in Bantwal on Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Nirmala Anstha (32), a native of Jharkhand. The lorry driver Sujith and cleaner Simohan Murmu escaped unhurt.
The incident occurred near SVS College in Bantwal, when the lorry, en route from Udupi to Moodbidri and then to Bantwal, overturned due to the driver losing control amid heavy rain.



Nirmala Anstha was seated on the rear portion of the lorry over the rice load. When the vehicle overturned, he was thrown onto the road and died on the spot.
Bantwal traffic sub-inspector Suthesh visited the scene and registered a case.
